"Always walk through life as if you have something new to learn and you will."

Essential #7: The Learning Switch
The Learning Switch is a metaphor for that place of alertness, interest and focus we have when we are engaged and aware of ourselves. It is absolutely essential in the process of learning. While there are fancy machines that can measure your brain waves in this state, it is really something you can recognize in yourself, or your child. You might use some of the other Essentials, such as SLOW or Variation, to engage yourself or your child in order to turn on that switch. And, when your Learning Switch is on, that's when your brain is receptive to new information. As a practitioner, I have found that engaging in the process of ABM with my clients extends the time and quality of the Learning Switch and effectively upgrades the nervous system.
From Kids Beyond Limits:
"It is important for you to recognize whether your child's Learning Switch is on or off...When it is turned on, the brain is receptive not only to the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and sensations of touch from the world around him but also is receptive to the feelings and sensations within himself."
"When we open up and widen our focus so that we are seeing our child beyond his limitations and beyond our concerns, we turn our own Learning Switch back on."
~Anat Baniel
