Highlights from Eugene

3/1/2016

I had a fantastic time in Eugene this past weekend.  Everybody seemed to be in a space of movement, growth and learning! Here are some highlights:

~ Working with 2 "ABM mamas":
I rarely get to give lessons to the caregivers in my world. These parents and grandparents work tirelessly to give to their children/grandchildren...and rarely take time to nurture themselves.  My hat goes off to Sara and Sally for hopping on my table.  It was great to witness Sally's arm "floating" up above her head, and Sara reflecting on feeling a touch on her sternum all the way down to her toes.
~ Giving lessons to a sibling:
I had the great privilege to work with Joel this time. Usually, I work with his brother, James, but it was time for Joel to have a little NeuroMovement experience!  In the past he has "loved" me from a-far without a big desire to get onto the table.  This time, I was so pleased to have Joel run into the room and leap onto my table.  We connected quickly and went to work feeling/discussing/exploring his connection to himself and feeling his body more clearly.  Oh, and we built a cool tower!
~ Connecting with an "old" friend:
Andrew is one my my very first clients...and my very first Eugene connection. We can all thank Andrew's mom Sara (discussed above) for bringing ABM to Eugene.  What's more, Andrew's lovely family hosts me in this lovely ABM studio and apartment!  I feel so grateful for this family!

As a 6 year old boy (who I've know since he was about 10 months), Andrew can be quite a "moving target" to work with.  This weekend, however, was a lovely quiet time for us together.  He was so attentive to his body and allowed some much needed quiet work on his spine, and with his pelvis. What a gift!
~ Hearing Tegan sing to me:
Tegan is an amazing 10year old who LOVES singing.  He comes into each lesson with a few favorite requests (sometimes over and over).  This time, I asked Tegan to help me out and.... together we sang, alternately we sang, and sometimes he just sang to me. (All the while building relationships between his arms and ribs and sternum and pelvis.) Sorry! We were so focused, we didn't snap any photos this time!
~ Chasing a "moving target":
I was laughing with Jovie's mom, Katie.  There was a time when Jovie would lay on my table, face down, not wanting to roll, or move in many new directions. This weekend, she started off not wanting to go near the table, and instead invited me to "chase" her around the room.  It was a good exercise in flexible goals, and we ended up on the table for some quiet integration.
~ Harrison's smile!
I've know Harrison for a number of years now....and I cannot think of a person who has a brighter or bigger smile.  Unfortunately I didn't get any "mug shots" this time.  Next time Harrison!  Oh, and we'll continue to knock over towers as you twist from side to side!
~ Watching Ollie walk into his lesson:
Like Andrew, I've know this cutie since he was about 10 months old. And, like so many of my families, these lovely folks have worked their way into my heart! He has come so very far and I am always inspired by Ollie's drive, determination, and bright spirit. He's just simply awesome! (Sorry no video... I had technical difficulty adding it to this post - but check it out in my Facebook site!)
~Taking in the Eugene scene:
I had a few moments to get out between rain showers.  I had a lovely walk in Amazon park, my usual trip (or two) to Cafe Yumm, and I saw some wild turkeys on my way out of town.
THANKS EUGENE!
See you very soon!
