These are the tools I use to help your brain perceive differences.

These are the tools you use to help your brain perceive differences.

These are also the tools you use to help your child's brain perceive differences.

While at the Coast recently, I took a lovely walk on the beach to soak in the amazing weather and prepare for my intensive NeuroMovement® weekend.  While walking, I let the 9 Essentials wash over me like waves... looking for them and wondering where they might pop up....

Can you guess which Essential matches each picture?

This is me waving.  I had just arrived to a virtually empty beach. I was amazed at everything around me: the temperature, the sound of the waves, the expansiveness of the ocean and sand and the anticipation of an intensive weekend seeing some "old" friends whom I have dearly missed and excitement of meeting some "new" friends who were going to experience NeuroMovement® for the first time.

I saw this lump in the distance, so I investigated... and as I got closer I realized it was a skeleton of a bird.  I wondered a bit about how this creature died, but really what struck me was thought:  "Cool ribs!" It made me think about all those times I lock into a pair of ribs wondering how the muscles will move underneath my fingers.

Check out this rock!
I love the contrast of light and dark.
The lines.
The shape.
The colors.
The texture.

I stopped.     I watched.
Can you sense the movement here? I love watching the waves retreat and noticed the time it took for the dampness to retreat even after the wave went back to the ocean.

These lines.  I was thinking about each of my clients who would visit my table today. Where would their path lead? Where would we go together?  What possibilities would we create - together?

The temperature difference was slight between the shade as I walked toward the beach and the sun when I arrived on the sand.  However,  I was keenly aware of the shift from shade to sun. I felt the gentle shift physically and emotionally. When I put my face to the sun, it was powerful.

Interesting tracks. There were two people who walked along this path at some point before I came along.  Their footprints are quite different. I wondered about weight, age, gait, and organization of the individuals who created these prints. I also wondered if they noticed?  (P.S. then I began to wonder about my own footprints!)

The big picture... taking it all in. Sky, sea, sand, sun. By engaging in this process of learning, I will work with clients to help them create new connections that will be meaningful for them.

Hmmmmmm..............
Which beach access path did I use to start my walk?

Well, if I can't find the exact one, I will have to just use a different one and figure out my way home a new way.
WHICH ESSENTIAL?

The Answers:

Here are the Essentials that I came up with as I took each photo:
Photo #1:  ENTHUSIASM
Photo #2: THE LEARNING SWITCH
Photo #3: VARIATION
Photo #4: SLOW
Photo #5: IMAGINATION AND DREAMS
Photo #6: SUBTLETY
Photo #7: MOVEMENT WITH ATTENTION
Photo #8: AWARENESS
Photo #9: FLEXIBLE GOALS

Did your guesses match mine?  If not - EXCELLENT!  That is the beauty of engaging on this dynamic process of learning. There is no true right or wrong. I can find elements of each essential in each photo... that's because my learning switch is on.

Consider exploring the 9 Essentials in your world.  These essentials give us the tools to help our brains perceive differences.  When you engage in this process of learning, you create the connections necessary to make positive powerful change in you.  Additionally, your ability to notice the small changes in your child will help those lessons be more potent.

You can access the 9 Essentials to create change in you.
