FAQs

Who benefits from ABM NeuroMovement®?

ADULTS: The joke around my house is "who DOESN'T need ABM?!? And, while I say it as a joke, there is much truth to that statement. Whether you have pain or injury, want to up your "game" or are looking for increased vitality, the key is in your nervous system. Making new neural connections to reorganize can benefit everyone.

KIDS: For neurodiverse children, ABMNM® lessons can unlock potential and upgrade the entire nervous system. Rather than address the “limitation,” this work offers new possibilities for transformational outcomes in all areas.

What can I expect from an ABM lesson?

ADULTS: Come to your lesson in comfortable clothes, ready to explore your own movement within your range of ease. Your practitioner will move your body in gentle ways and look to guide your awareness through touch, movement and verbal cues.

KIDS: Same! Bring your child in comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. Kathy will work on the table, or on the floor, or with your child on your lap, if needed. It is all about safety, comfort and trust.

What should I bring to the lesson?

SOCKS! And, if this lesson is for your child, please bring a healthy snack, since creating neural pathways is hungry work.

Also, don’t forget your keen observation skills as you look to increase your own awareness whether this lesson is for you or your child.

What does it cost?

In person: $115 per lesson
Virtual: $100 per OAHC session (recommended: 4 session series)
Group Class: $60 per month (4 classes) / $18 drop in / $12 recording only
Travel: (Eugene/Newport intensives): $130 per lesson (plus expenses)

Sliding scale is available on a limited basis

Is it covered by insurance?

At this time, unfortunately, insurance does not cover ABMNM®. I do, however, provide an invoice detailing services which can be submitted for reimbursement at your insurance company's discretion.

How often should I come for lessons?

ADULTS: While there is no "magic number" there are some guidelines I generally follow. I always suggest trying at least 4-6 lessons when you are first experiencing ABMNM®. Changes can happen right away, and yet, new learning is fragile. We can very easily go back to our “old habits.” By giving it a few lessons, your nervous system will become upgraded, new changes can be reinforced and supported, and you will have a sense about whether ABM is right for you.

KIDS: With neurodiverse children, we encourage and immersive approach. We hope to see your child between 5-10 times within a short period, like a week or two. We often give 2 lessons per day. We can "flood" the nervous system with new information during the focused cluster of lessons, then give that system ample time to integrate new learning. What is exciting is that the new learning is not just what happens on the table, or in the office. Your child's potent nervous system keeps going in unlimited directions. We would hope to see your child again in about a month for the next series of lessons. Every child is different, however, and we adjust according to your child's needs.

Will I be given "exercises" to do at home?

You will not be given rote exercises to go home and complete in-between ABMNM® lessons. However, there is much you can do to support this power process of upgrading the brain. For the individual, you can engage in the process of learning through the 9 Essentials and your own exploration and awareness. For parents you can also use the 9 Essentials to bring NeuroMovement® into your home. Providing conditions for the brain to upgrade, plus your keen observation and awareness of your child's changes will support and promote the process of learning that they go through.

Additionally, you can now book Online At Home Coaching (OAHC) sessions and have virtual guided lessons or caregiver coaching of the 9 Essentials. These sessions will address this need directly AND in a way that is specific to your family.
